Will there be less procrastination in 2025?

As we enter a New Year with most of our leaders around the world still denying the reality of our Finite World, it is important to remember Gandhi's call to action: “The future depends on what you do today.” As Lincoln said, "You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today."
It isn't easy to be optimistic about 2025.
In November last year, we launched ICRT.global to bring together Responsible Tourism activists from around the world. Through Responsible Tourism, I am constantly reminded that we can make opposite changes. As Churchill demanded of us: "never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense."
Together we can make a difference...... we need to stop procrastinating and get on and #maketourismbetter.
In the regional Responsible Tourism Awards every year we see many robust examples of businesses and destinations taking action to ‘make tourism better’, using tourism to make better places for people to live in. This year’s awards are open for Africa and will open over the next couple of months for Southeast Asia, Latin America, Europe and the Indian subcontinent.
If you are making a difference, or know people who are, then take a look at the 2025 Responsible Tourism Awards page Enter yourself or encourage others.

Responsible Tourism is a movement of change-makers, committed to using tourism to make a better world. Better for local people, for biodiversity and the natural world and for conserving and growing our world’s diverse cultural heritage. It is about minimising negative impacts maximising positive ones and making tourism accessible for all - in employment and as consumers. It is a broad agenda - see the 2022 Responsible Tourism Charter.
Within the movement, we don’t have all the answers, but we do have a wealth of proven examples of how tourism can be harnessed to deal with many of the challenges we face in our finite world.
The ICRT.global is launching two, ten-week, professional blended learning short courses on Responsible Tourism and Overtourism, its opposite, a consequence of procrastinating and mouthing sustainability while doing very little to address the challenges. Join the change makers.
Whatever your challenges for 2025, we hope our commitment to education, training and knowledge sharing will help your Responsible Tourism journey.
